The concept for Fields of Growth (FoG) was born in 2009 when Kevin Dugan and Maurice Sserunkuma met at an annual conference for the International Academy on African Business Development, hosted by Makerere University Business School. The two began dreaming the concept for an intelligently structured, passion fueled organization. One that could deliver Revolving Social Impact.
FoG is a non-profit organization, but is not structured to operate as a typical fundraising → social services organization. What sets up aport is our proposition of Revolving Social Impact. Through our Global Leadership Experience programs FoG enacts 360 degrees of positive social impact. The program operates under a proven social business model, enabling us to enrich the minds of young leaders at home (USA) while sustaining our programs and creating jobs abroad (Uganda and Jamaica.) Our work and our impact truly is revolving, both in concept and in reality.
Measuring the value of our social impact and setting benchmarking standards is something that will enable us to transcend the desire “to do good” and go beyond – to making a legitimate, measurable difference. We have dedicated two internal staff members to form a diverse committee to help us critically measure and evaluate our impact. Our first assessment and self disclosure will be released in January of 2013. It will set the tone for the standards we aim to hold ourselves accountable to.
