Fields of Growth currently has community partnerships in Uganda and Costa Rica that we are supporting financially as well as with volunteers on service trips. We are also supporting the growth of lacrosse in both of these countries.
To help fund these projects, you are able to donate here.
UGANDA PROJECTS:
Uganda Lacrosse Union: Fields of Growth has spearheaded the creation of the Uganda Lacrosse Union out of Makerere University Business School, one of the top business schools in East Africa. This is the focus of our serious lacrosse activities and where we have an internship program and are working to build a Uganda Cranes National Team.
HOPEFUL Uganda: We are working with this community based organization in the Masaka District of Uganda to build the HOPEFUL School for orphans and vulnerable children. We are working with Play Like A Champion on a youth sports initiative, support an HIV outreach for infected children and social entrepreneurism for women’s groups and the Barefoot Truth Children’s Choir.
Batwa Development Program: We work with this community organization deep in South West Uganda on the perimeter of the Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest on a home building project for the Batwa Pygmies. We have also started developing land for a Batwa sports integration program.
COSTA RICA PROJECTS
Costa Rica Lacrosse Federation: Fields of Growth has teamed up with Lacrosse Costa Rica and director, Walter Rojas, to support the growth of the game in Costa Rica. While volunteering, individuals will have the opportunity to work with Lacrosse Costa Rica as they prepare to be serious competition in Central America and the world.
Salvando Corazones: We are fiercely committed to supporting the work of this organization that provides programs and safe houses for young children enslaved in prostitution in Costa Rica. Costa Rica was flagged in 2008 by INTERPOL, as the fastest rising capital of sex tourism per capita. Child prostitution is so rampant in Costa Rica that there are signs at the airport. Young defenseless children in Costa Rica deserve more. To escape, children need a safe place go.
Association CREAR: The mission of La Asociación CREAR is to provide supplemental educational, recreational, and career opportunities for community members, primarily youth with limited resources, in the rural beach communities surrounding Playa Sámara in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, by offering a wide variety of innovative programs focusing on academic and artistic education, environmental consciousness, health, and socio-cultural development.
