‘The stone that the builder refuses, will always become the head cornerstone.” Psalm 118:22 often quoted by oppressed Jamaicans.
The small island nation of Jamaica is a beautiful country that like Uganda is blessed with beautiful resources, warm people and an incredible culture. Jamaica, also like Uganda faces it’s challenges with poverty and post-colonial development. Our LVC Jamaica program is headquartered in Kingston, the nations capital, which is also the home of the Jamaica Lacrosse Association. In addition to growing the game of lacrosse, we also partner with the Jamaica Volunteers Foundation and the St. Patrick’s Foundation to support their social service and educational programs in the Kingston city trash dump community of Riverton.Fields of Growth is also supporting the start of boys and girls high school lacrosse programs in Kingston. In the coming year we will also begin working with the Jamaica Surfing Association’s youth development program, located just east of Kingston in 8 Mile Bull Bay.
