Cows:
Cows are an invaluable part of rural life. They can provide milk for a family to fill the necessary calcium intake and also beef once the cow has matured which gives needed protein to the family to stay healthy. Cows can also provide an educational opportunity for the youth of the family on how to become productive cattle raisers.
Goats
Goats provide another source of invaluable protein for the families in rural Uganda. Along with the nutritional component of goats, they provide an educational opportunity for children to learn how to successfully raise live animals to become profitable farmers in the future!
Chicks provide necessary protein through eggs (they will lay about 1 egg a day) and, once they reach maturity, through their meat. There is also the opportunity for the creation of a sustainable business through the selling of excess eggs and chicken meat in the local markets.
